General Guidelines

  • Parking spaces in the rear yard are for Staff parking but can be used as overflow parking for parents of Junior and Senior Infants only. Front yard parking spaces are for the parents of Naíonáin Bheaga & Naíonáin Mhóra only. No other parking is permitted. A set down system is in place for all other children. This means you may pull up at Zebra Crossing drop your child and drive away without coming to the front door. Please do not reverse out onto the zebra crossing.
  • Parents must not congregate outside the building on the tarmac. This impedes the practicing of social distancing,
  • Children must be aware of which door (colour coded) they are using to access the school and must only enter through this door at their allocated time. Spots are located on the ground leading up to these doors to help the practice of social distancing.
  • Families of 2 siblings or greater may arrive at school together at one of their allocated times. Choose the time that best suits your family and adhere to that. The same applies to home time. Please arrive at the latest time of 2:30pm if you have more than 1 child to collect .
  • Parents are not permitted to enter the building without a prior appointment.
  • To facilitate hand sanitization in the morning the lunch box and drink should be placed in small knap sack on child back or a side bag to allow children to have hands free .

Water School of The Year National Winner

Tá áthas an domhan orainn bheith ainmnithe mar Scoil Uisce na bliana 2020. Is mór an onóir é don scoil agus táimid thar a bheith bródúil as na mic léinn, an fhoireann agus na tuismitheoirí go léir a bhí bainteach leis.
Tá coiste den scoth againn ar a bhfuil mic léinn ó rang 3 go rang 6. D’oibrigh coiste na Scoileanna Glasa gan staonadh le 2 bhliain anuas agus muid ag obair ar an téama caomhnú uisce. Choinnigh an coiste súil ar na billí uisce, rinne siad suirbhéanna ar úsáid uisce, agus rinne tástálacha silleadh ar na leithris sa scoil. Agus an fhaisnéis seo á húsáid againn bhíomar in ann a fheiceáil cá raibh uisce ag dul amú sa scoil agus bhí sé mar aidhm againn ansin é a athrú. Mhéadaíomar feasacht ar chaomhnú uisce ar fud na scoile trí fheachtais ‘múchadh’ le chomórtas póstaeir agus lá gníomhaíochta a bhí againn i mí Feabhra. Bhailíomar uisce báistí ag úsáid coimeádáin, a d’úsáid muid ansin ar na bplandaí inár ngairdín scoile. Tá ‘Maoranna Uisce’ againn freisin ar an gcoiste atá i gceannas ar na sconnaí i ngach seomra ranga a sheiceáil ag am sosa agus am lóin. Ar an iomlán chonaiceamar laghdú suntasach ar ár n-úsáid uisce sa scoil agus laghdú ar ár mbillí uisce agus tá súil againn leanúint leis seo sa todhchaí. Is é an mana atá againn ná ‘Bígí Cliste, Sábháil Uisce’ agus seo rud ba mhaith linn a chur ar bun i bpobal na scoile ar fad.

We are ecstatic to be crowned Water School of the year 2020. It is an enormous honour for the school and we are extremely proud of all students, staff and parents involved. We have an outstanding committee comprised of students from 3rd to 6th class. The Green Schools committee worked tirelessly for the past 2 years as we worked on the theme of water conservation. The committee kept track of the water bills, carried out surveys on water usage, and conducted leak tests on the toilets in the schools. Using this information we were able to see where water was going to waste within the school which we then aimed to change. We raised awareness on water conservation throughout the school through ‘turn it off’ campaigns such as a poster competition and an action day which we had in February. We harvested rain water using containers which we then used to water the plants in our school garden. We also have ‘Maoranna Uisce’ or Water Wardens from each class on the committee who are in charge of checking the taps in each classroom at break and lunch time. Overall we saw a significant reduction in our water usage in the school and a reduction in our water bills and we hope to continue this on in future. Our motto is ‘Bígí Cliste, Sábháil Uisce’ and this is something we want to instil in the whole school community.

Monatóireacht agus Measúnú

Rinne an coiste monatóiracht ar na billí uisce. Rinne ceathrar ón gcoiste glas taifead ar na billí agus léirigh siad an t-eolas ar ghrafanna. Chuireamar na graifeanna i gcomparáid lena chéile agus d’fhoglamar gur tháinig laghdú ar na costaisí uisce a d’íoc an scoil.

Teastáil silleadh

Rinne an choiste teastáil silleadh ar na leithreisí chun fháil amach an raibh aon leithreas ag silleadh agus ag cur amú uisce. Chuireamar cúpla braon dathú bia isteach sa sistéil agus ansin d’fhánamar cúpla nóiméad chun fheiscint ar tháinig athrú ar dath an uisce sa leithreas. D’fhoghlamar go raibh dhá leithreas sa scoil ag silleadh agus dúramar é leis an airí a dheisigh iad.

Nasc leis an gCuraclam

Rinne gach rang sa scoil nasc leis an téama uisce tríd na hábhair ar fad. Rinne siad staidéar ar ainmhithe an fharraige agus scríobh siad scéal scéalta as Gaeilge. Rinne Rang a hAon ealaín álainn de phortán, éisc agus ainmhithe eile ón bhfarraige.

Caomhnú Uisce

Seo na bairillí a chruthaíodh chun uisce báistí a bhailiú. Tá mana na scoile scríofa orthu ‘Bígí Clíste Sábháil Uisce’. Rinne an Coiste Glas an Ealaín orthu. Úsaideadh an t-uisce a shábhalamar sna bairillí ar na bláthanna sa ghairdín scoile, rud a chintíonn nach bhfuil uisce a chur amú.Search for:
